PUTRAJAYA, 10 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) is reviewing the National Tourism Policy (DPN) 2020–2030 to assess its progress and strengthen strategies for Malaysia’s tourism sector towards 2030.
MOTAC held the Phase 1 Analysis Workshop for the Mid-Term Review of the National Tourism Policy 2020–2030 at Dewan Sanggar Pujangga from 7 to 8 September.
The workshop was opened by MOTAC Deputy Secretary-General (Tourism) YBrs. Encik Chua Choon Hwa.
The session provided a collaborative platform to assess the policy’s achievements, implementation effectiveness and the continued suitability of its strategies and initiatives in response to current developments in the tourism sector.
Divisions, departments and agencies under MOTAC contributed their achievements, views and recommendations, with discussions focusing on collaboration, innovation, outcomes and strategic coordination.

Speakers and facilitators from the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) also contributed expertise in policy strategy development and evaluation.
MOTAC said the review is important in developing more structured, integrated and results-oriented improvements to ensure the National Tourism Policy remains relevant and responsive to the country’s tourism development aspirations through 2030.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, the mid-term review is aimed at ensuring the policy and its strategies remain aligned with developments and priorities in Malaysia’s tourism sector. – The Capital Post
