KUALA LUMPUR: Muar PKR has decided to sever any form of cooperation with the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) in the Muar Parliamentary constituency.

Sinar Harian quoted Muar PKR branch secretary Esa Ali saying that this decision follows Muda’s choice to contest independently in the upcoming elections in six states.

“This decision violates the political cooperation of the unity government in the form of an electoral pact between Muda and Pakatan Harapan,” he said.

On Monday (June 27) Muda expressed its stance to contest independently in the upcoming elections in six states.

This position will lead Muda to face off against Pakatan, which is collaborating with Barisan Nasional against Perikatan Nasional.

Earlier, the party led by Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman announced that it will contest the state elections on its own, which will result in clashes with unity government allies Pakatan and Barisan Nasional.

Six states – Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan – did not dissolve their state assemblies before the 15th General Election on Nov 19 last year.

All six will be holding their state polls soon.
