PENANG, 2 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – Coordination efforts for the Penang Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) project are being strengthened as federal and state agencies work to streamline implementation of the major public transport infrastructure project.
Dato’ Seri Jana Santhiran chaired the second meeting of the Penang Mutiara Line LRT Project Facilitation Committee for 2026 during a working visit to Penang on Friday.
The meeting focused on the latest progress of the project, coordination between agencies and measures to improve follow-up actions to ensure implementation proceeds smoothly.
Also present were Penang State Secretary Dato’ Dr. Jafri bin Abdul Jalil and Finance Ministry Government Investment Companies Division Secretary Dato’ Raja Muhammad Azhan Shah.

Representatives from several federal and state ministries and agencies also attended, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Ministry of Economy, Land Public Transport Agency, Department of Director General of Lands and Mines, Department of Environment, Public Works Department, PLANMalaysia, Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Penang Port Commission, Penang State Economic Planning Division, Penang Lands and Mines Office, Ministry of Transport and MRT Corporation.
The meeting highlighted the importance of close cooperation among the relevant agencies in supporting the implementation of the Mutiara Line LRT project and improving coordination across different areas of responsibility.
