SERI KEMBANGAN, 30 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) is promoting sustainable hydroponic farming as an alternative to conventional agriculture while raising awareness of green technology, food security and water sustainability.
PUSPANITA PETRA, in collaboration with the National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM), organised the Smart Farming PUSPANITA: Sustainable Hydroponics programme at the NAHRIM Auditorium on 29 September.
The programme introduced participants to smart farming methods based on hydroponic systems and their potential to support more sustainable agricultural practices.
Activities included an introduction to smart farming by an industry expert, hands-on hydroponic planting, vegetable harvesting at the NAHRIM greenhouse, as well as sales of hydroponic kits and community-grown vegetables.

PETRA said the initiative was aimed at increasing awareness among ministry personnel about the importance of green technology, national food security and the sustainable management of water resources.
The programme also encouraged PUSPANITA members and PETRA personnel to incorporate environmentally responsible practices into their daily lives.
