KUALA LUMPUR, 3 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The National Library of Malaysia (PNM) has digitised 75,042 titles comprising more than 4.47 million pages as part of efforts to preserve the country’s knowledge collections and strengthen digital library services.
The figure, recorded as of August 2026, covers Malay manuscripts, rare collections, newspaper microfilms and government gazettes.
The achievement was highlighted during the National Digital Librarian Seminar 2026, organised by the Ministry of National Unity through PNM from 1 to 2 October at the National Library of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
Deputy National Unity Minister Yuneswaran Ramaraj officiated the two-day seminar, which carried the theme “Visibility, Inclusivity, Resilience”.
More than 400 participants from the library sector, government, academia, education and technology industry attended the programme, which was aimed at strengthening librarians’ digital competencies and accelerating the transformation of library services.

During the event, Yuneswaran also launched the PNM Digitalisation Strategic Plan 2026–2030 e-book and the Digital Library Guidelines in Malaysia.
The initiatives are intended to strengthen the development of a more dynamic, inclusive and sustainable digital library ecosystem.
