JOHOR BARU: SMK Seri Kota Puteri 2 students taking the PT3 and SPM exams may have sit for their papers at other nearby schools if open burning in the area gets worse.
Johor Education, Human Resource, Science, and Technology Committee chairman Aminolhuda Hassan said there are 100 Form 3 students from the school who are currently sitting for their PT3 exam, while another 124 Form 5 students are expected to sit for SPM, which starts from Oct 15.
“We might have to relocate them to other schools so that they sit for their exam in conducive surroundings without any distraction.
“As of Thursday (Oct 3), the state Fire and Rescue Department had managed to put out 70% of the fire in a 1.619ha illegal dumpsite area at Kota Puteri, ” he said when met by reporters after visiting SMK Seri Kota Puteri 2, here.
The illegal dumpsite was discovered by the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) in February this year and action had been taken to shut it down. -The Star
