HULU TERENGGANU, 6 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Kampung Basong and Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Setebu are set to benefit from RM700,000 in allocations under the Kampung Angkat MADANI (KAM) and Sekolah Angkat MADANI initiatives.
The projects were handed over by Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister YBhg. Dato’ Sri Arthur Joseph Kurup during a ceremony at Kampung Basong here on 5 September.
Under the KAM initiative, RM500,000 has been allocated to improve community facilities, including the community hall, football field, multipurpose court, cemetery and surau.
An additional RM100,000 has been allocated to support the involvement of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, particularly Kolej Vokasional Wakaf Tembesu, in implementing the projects.
Meanwhile, SK Padang Setebu received RM100,000 for maintenance and upgrading works aimed at providing pupils with a more comfortable, safe and conducive learning environment.

Kampung Basong was selected due to the close relationship between the Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia (PERHILITAN) and the local community, particularly in addressing human-wildlife conflicts.
The initiatives reflect the MADANI Government’s efforts to strengthen local communities and ensure development projects deliver direct benefits to rural residents.
The ceremony was also attended by NRES Deputy Secretary-General (Natural Resources) YBhg. Dato’ Khalid Mohamed, PERHILITAN Director-General (Conservation) Dato’ Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim, Deputy Director-General (Conservation) YBhg. Dato’ Fakhrul Hatta Musa and Hulu Terengganu District Office representatives, as well as local community leaders and senior officials from relevant agencies.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Sumber Asli dan Kelestarian Alam (NRES), the projects were handed over on 5 September 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen community development in rural areas. – The Capital Post
