SEREMBAN, 22 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Transport (MOT) has launched the Safe School Zone Project in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, as part of efforts to improve road safety and encourage compliance with a 30km/h speed limit around schools.

The initiative was officiated by the Transport Minister at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Seri Pagi and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Pagi on Thursday (22 October).

The project introduces road design improvements and infrastructure interventions aimed at encouraging safer driving behaviour and reducing risks to students travelling to and from school.

Implemented as a pilot programme by the Malaysian Road Safety Council (MKJR), the initiative covers nine states in 2026.

According to MOT, the programme is expected to directly benefit approximately 15,000 students and 24,000 parents, alongside school personnel and other road users in the participating areas.

The ministry said the project places particular emphasis on encouraging motorists to slow down, observe speed limits and exercise greater caution near schools.
