IPOH: Barely a month after its inaugural charted flight to Guangzhou, Scanda Sky has discontinued its services after cancelling an agreement with Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAS).

Perak Tourism Committee chairman Tan Kar Hing said Scanda’s services stopped officially on Dec 18 after the two companies were unable to reach agreement on certain matters.
“There were several factors, including commercial and technical views. The services were said to be able to accommodate 120 passengers, but was limited to only 50,” he told a press conference at the state secretariat building here on Friday (Dec 20).
Scanda Sky’s first chartered flight to Guangzhou took off from the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport here on Nov 27.
The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MavCom) had issued a warning letter to the company, ordering it to cease marketing and portraying itself as an airline.

Tan said Scanda Sky is now in the process of finding a new partner to continue flight services between Ipoh and Guangzhou.
“I understand that they have met with several airlines this week – including those in China – to explore more possibilities” he said.
Scanda Sky chief executive officer Stanley Hu had previously said that it had chartered flights from licensed airline companies, including MAS, for tour packages in Ipoh and Guangzhou, China, following the warning from Mavcom. -The Star
