Scholars Khoo Kay Kim, Ungku Aziz and Mohd Rashdan Baba commemorated on national stamps

KUALA LUMPUR: POS Malaysia introduced a special ‘Scholars in Malaysia’ stamp series celebrating the life and legacy of Malaysian intellectuals – the late Emeritus Prof Tan Sri Khoo Kay Kim, Royal Professor Ungku Aziz and Profesor Emeritus Tan Sri Mohd Rashdan Baba.

The national postal service company announced on its social accounts: “The contributions of these three intellectual figures to the country cannot be denied anymore.”

“Even though they are gone, their legacy has been an extension to the development of the country and the mindset of our society until now.

“To commemorate these great scholars, Pos Malaysia has issued a special stamp collection so that their legacy will not be forgotten.”

When contacted by the New Straits Times, Khoo’s surviving widow Puan Sri Rathi Khoo shared that the family is elated and deeply grateful with the gesture.

“His love and loyalty to his country was unquestionable, and he has been rewarded for it.

“The family is greatly honoured and we thank the government for appreciating his contribution along with the other figures to the country,” she said.

The stamps can be purchased at pos.com.my shop and at all major post offices and branch post offices nationwide.

“Ungku and Rasdan Baba are icons in the academic world, and for Prof to be commemorated alongside is so great.

“Ungku was with Prof through out his working days at UM and Prof always held him in great respect.

“Now, to be with them in this commemorated stamp is greatly appreciated by the family.-NST
