PETALING JAYA: A total of 67 police reports in connection with the state elections have been lodged in Selangor on Sunday (Aug 6).

State police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said they also opened two investigation papers on the same day under Section 427 (committing mischief) and Section 435 (committing mischief with fire) of the Penal Code.
“We arrested a man in Batu Arang for burning Pakatan Harapan flags and damaging banners,” he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 7).
A total of 65 other police reports were lodged and classified as no offence disclosed (NOD), he added.
“These are reports made by the Ops Cantas teams based on their checks and monitoring of areas involved in the state elections,” he said.
Comm Hussein said a total of 276 campaigns were conducted with permits while three others without permits.

“We also recorded 105 ceramah with permits,” he said.
All candidates must ensure their ceramah do not touch on sensitive issues, Comm Hussein warned.
“Don’t upload anything on social media that might provoke rival parties.
“Such offences can be investigated under Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act for wrongful use of network facilities,” he reminded.
