Tawau Municipal Council (MPT) secretary Joseph Pang, who is also Tawau PKOB committee member, said the move which was decided during a meeting last night, was to allow residents at the housing estate to spend at the shops, to be opened from 6 am to 6 pm.

“Only one person from each house is allowed to shop and anyone who violates the standard operating procedures (SOP) including engaging in gatherings, will be compounded RM1,000 immediately,” he said when contacted here today.

According to Pang, monitoring would be conducted from time to time by the police and an access pass would be given to each head of household to monitor movements.

Besides that, supply aid from outside could be directly sent to the control post, whether at the Semarak main intersection or at the Semarak Megah roundabout, from 9 am to 2 pm.

“Senders can directly contact the family involved to take the supply aid according to an agreed time. The previous SOP on items delivery, including to the PKOB at MPT, is void,” he said.

Pang said the meeting also decided to allow hawkers to sell vegetables or fish inside the EMCO area but they have to undergo a COVID-19 test first.

Residents can also contact their family members who live outside the EMCO area to help withdraw money from the automated teller machine (ATM), he said. – BERNAMA
