KUALA LUMPUR, 12 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The SME Bank iTEKAD ISHRAF programme has empowered nearly 1,000 asnaf entrepreneurs nationwide since its introduction in 2020, generating close to RM40 million in income and creating more than 400 employment opportunities.

Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin highlighted the achievement while attending the SME Bank iTEKAD ISHRAF 4.0 Graduation Ceremony at Hotel Seri Pacific here today.

According to a Facebook post by Kementerian Pembangunan Usahawan dan Koperasi, the programme, which operates under Bank Negara Malaysia’s social finance framework, has become a significant platform for uplifting asnaf entrepreneurs through structured business support and financial assistance.

Since its implementation, a total of RM30 million in business capital has been channelled through the initiative, including approximately RM9 million allocated for 2026.

The ministry said the programme demonstrates how Islamic social finance can serve as a catalyst for income growth, business expansion and improved community well-being, particularly among vulnerable groups.
