PETALING JAYA: Amanah members have been told to stop speculating on the late Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub’s ministerial replacement and instead focus on winning the upcoming state elections, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu (pic).
The Amanah president said the party leadership and all members should give their full focus on running the election machinery in the six states involved.
“Let’s not think about who will replace the late Salahuddin. After (the election), we will discuss with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding his replacement.
The Agriculture and Food Security Minister said he would also be fully committed to going on the ground and working with the election machinery.
“Our responsibility is important to ensure the victory of candidates under the unity government.
“In the meantime, do not allow ourselves to be incited by others over this issue.
“Let us not be swayed by others on (the matter of the late Salahuddin’s replacement).
“The party leadership will handle the matters related to (succession) and the party’s future in accordance with the rules and norms of the party,” Mohamad added.
Salahuddin, 61, breathed his last at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Alor Setar at 9.23pm on Sunday (July 23) after undergoing surgery for a brain haemorrhage the day before.
He was Amanah deputy president, Pulai MP as well as domestic trade and cost of living minister.
