PETALING JAYA, 20 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ascent, Paradigm PJ, a 32-storey Grade-A corporate office tower developed and managed by WCT Land Sdn Bhd, has been awarded the GreenRE Gold certification under the Non-Residential Building category, marking a key sustainability milestone for WCT Holdings Berhad’s office portfolio.

The certification, conferred in early 2026 by GreenRE, recognises buildings that demonstrate strong environmental performance across key sustainability indicators, including energy efficiency, water conservation, carbon emission reduction, environmental protection and indoor environmental quality.

The Ascent, which is part of WCT Land’s property development, investment and management portfolio, achieved the certification following a series of enhancements to the decade-old asset aimed at improving operational sustainability.

The upgrades included the implementation of energy management policies and a medium-term energy-saving plan, LED lighting retrofits in common areas, energy-efficient lift operations, indoor air quality audits and management in compliance with requirements set by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), as well as water monitoring through sub-metering systems.

Recycling and waste segregation facilities were also introduced, while naturally ventilated elevated car parks and office spaces designed to maximise external views contribute to greater energy efficiency, occupant comfort and overall well-being.

The recognition aligns with WCT Holdings Berhad’s broader sustainability agenda and supports Malaysia’s aspiration under the 12th Malaysia Plan to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

As organisations increasingly prioritise Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations, demand for green-certified office spaces continues to grow among businesses seeking environmentally responsible workplaces.

Group Managing Director of WCT Holdings Berhad, Dato’ Lee Tuck Fook, said the achievement reflects the group’s commitment to integrating sustainable design principles across its developments.

He said WCT Land aims to secure green building certification for all new developments, excluding affordable housing projects, from 2025 onwards, with a minimum GreenRE Bronze rating.

“Achieving GreenRE Gold for The Ascent demonstrates that sustainability is not limited to new developments. By enhancing an existing asset, we are extending the building’s lifecycle, improving operational efficiency and reinforcing our commitment to responsible property development,” he said.

Chief Operating Officer – Property Development of WCT Holdings Berhad, Chong Wah Hing, said the certification underscores the group’s focus on creating future-ready workplaces that deliver long-term value.

“The GreenRE Gold certification for The Ascent reflects our focus on creating buildings that combine stronger environmental performance with a better tenant experience. Through thoughtful upgrades and sustainable practices, we are enhancing the quality and efficiency of our assets to better meet evolving occupier expectations,” he said.

In addition to The Ascent, several other WCT Land developments have also secured GreenRE certifications. Aras Residences and Pavilion Mont’ Kiara received provisional GreenRE Silver certification, while The Maple Residences achieved GreenRE Bronze certification and Adison Serviced Apartments obtained provisional GreenRE Bronze certification.

The recognitions reflect WCT Holdings Berhad’s continued efforts to embed sustainability across the design, construction and operational phases of its developments in line with its long-term strategy to deliver environmentally responsible projects that create lasting value for tenants, investors and communities. – The Capital Post
