PETALING JAYA: The Regent of Johor and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) owner, Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, has given the RM500,000 Malaysia Cup reward to the Johor state government.

Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal, in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 13), said the Regent had consented to passing the incentive to the state government as he wanted them to use the money to clean the rivers in the state.
“The incentive will be used to purchase garbage collection boats to clean the rivers.
“This is to ensure that the environment in Johor is protected, and there will be no cases of river contamination.
“This incentive is given as a boost and a catalyst for the spirit, as well as the commitment, shown by the JDT team in winning the Malaysia Cup,” he said.

“However, the Regent has decreed to return the incentive to the state government for environmental purposes.
“The state government thanks and appreciates Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim for his gracious gesture.”
