KUALA LUMPUR, 9 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) and Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic defence cooperation, with a focus on training, professional development, expertise sharing and regional security.
Chief of Air Force General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Muhamad Norazlan bin Aris TUDM received a courtesy call from his RTAF counterpart, Air Chief Marshal Sakesan Kantha, at Air Force Headquarters, Wisma Pertahanan, Kuala Lumpur, on Tuesday (8 September).
The engagement formed part of Air Chief Marshal Sakesan’s two-day introductory visit to Malaysia and marked his first official visit to TUDM since his appointment as Commander-in-Chief of the RTAF.
Upon arrival at Wisma Pertahanan, he was welcomed by the Chief of Air Force and TUDM’s senior leadership before receiving a salute and inspecting a TUDM Guard of Honour.

During their meeting, the two air force chiefs discussed the longstanding bilateral defence relationship and opportunities to expand cooperation in training, professional development, expertise sharing and regional security.
Following the courtesy call, Muhamad Norazlan presented Sakesan with TUDM Honorary Pilot Wings in recognition of his leadership and the close relationship between the two air forces.
The ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Chief of Air Force Lieutenant General Dato’ Nur Hafis bin Abdul Karim TUDM; Air Support Commander Major General Dato’ Ahmad Khusairi bin Ahmad Fadli TUDM; Air Region 1 Commander Major General Shaiful Azuar bin Ariffin TUDM; Air Region 2 Commander Major General Dato’ Haji Norli Hisham bin Alwi TUDM; and senior TUDM officers.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, the visit reflects the continued commitment of TUDM and RTAF to strengthening bilateral relations and strategic cooperation in support of regional peace, security and stability, particularly in Southeast Asia. – The Capital Post
