The hotel edged out some of the region’s strongest contenders such as South Korea’s Grand Hyatt Incheon and the Hong Kong Marriott Airport Hotel, which held the top spot in the past six years.

“It is a privilege to have won this prestigious award, ” said Tune Hotels CEO Navin Singh.

“This validates our belief that airport hotels experience should be fun, rather than just a functional space to sleep, ” he added while elaborating that the intention was to make airport hotels fun.

Tune Hotel klia2 replicates the brand’s new approach to guest experience and initiated a rejuvenation, which started in February 2017 by adding Premium Rooms that are fitted with a Circadian lighting system from Philips to create a setting for uninterrupted sleep, rain showers and flat screen TVs.

Last year it added Garden Rooms, which were designed in a minimalist-industrial approach that features floor-to-ceiling windows facing a garden and customised Jeanie Botanicals toiletries for bathrooms.

Transit travellers at klia2 can then opt for Tune’s Day Use Room packages that offer five-star beds and a VIP Fast Track Pass for direct terminal access without queuing through AirAsia’s check-in counters.

Complementing the revamped rooms is the airy, all-day dining restaurant succinctly called “Makan”.

That was complemented by the “Minum” sports bar, a chic minimalist spa called “Rehat”, and a bodega-style “Grab & Go”, where guests can grab a quick snack, a fizzy drink or practical items like a travel adaptor.

The hotel also stands out with artwork by Malaysian and regional artists, on loan from private collections, some of which feature the theme of flying.

All of this connects to a 24/7 open-air courtyard perfect for transit travelers frequenting the KLIA and klia2 Terminals.

Specifically for transit travelers, Tune Hotel klia2 has created various packages which include a VIP Fast Track Pass for direct terminal access without queuing through the AirAsia check-in counters.

The hotel is a certified green building highlighting its commitment to sustainable building design and operations.

“We strive and aspire to ensure [the customer’s] experience with us leaves [them] feeling like a star, ” explained Navin.

“Being meticulous and detail-oriented is key as we aim to create a hotel experience that is done right in every way possible and is able to cater to our guests’ needs.”

Tune Hotel klia2 Part of Ormond Group, which also feature the upcoming Ormond Hotels and MoMo’s.

With this award, Tune Hotel klia2 is nominated as a contender in the category of World’s Leading Airport Hotel 2019.

It will compete alongside international brand hotels such as Hilton London Heathrow Airport, Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai and Parkroyal Melbourne Airport in the awards’ international gala ceremony to be held Nov 28 in Muscat, Oman.

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

The brand is currently recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence and 2019 marks its 26th anniversary. – The Star
