JOHOR BAHRU, 11 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) delivered a flawless performance in the Johor State Election by winning all four state seats it contested under the Barisan Nasional (BN) banner, reaffirming the party’s strong grassroots support and continued relevance in the state’s political landscape.

The victory saw all four MIC candidates successfully secure the confidence of voters in their respective constituencies. YB K. Raven Kumar emerged victorious in Kemelah, V. Rugendren won the Kahang state seat, Pannir Selvan secured Perling, while R. Kumaran claimed victory in Bukit Batu.

The clean sweep marks a significant milestone for MIC, following the party’s earlier nomination of the four candidates by Johor Barisan Nasional. Their victories underscore the confidence placed in the candidates’ leadership, service records, and commitment to representing their communities.

Prior to the election, BN Johor allocated four state seats to MIC as part of its overall electoral strategy. The selection of Raven Kumar, V. Rugendren, Pannir Selvan and R. Kumaran reflected the coalition’s confidence in the party’s ability to retain support among Indian voters while appealing to the broader electorate.

The results further reinforce MIC’s role as an important component party within Barisan Nasional, ensuring continued Indian representation in the Johor State Legislative Assembly. The victories are also expected to strengthen the coalition’s administration and contribute to the state’s ongoing development agenda.

With all four candidates successfully elected, MIC enters the new state administration with renewed momentum, positioning the party to continue championing the interests of the Indian community while working alongside its Barisan Nasional partners to deliver inclusive growth and effective governance for all Johoreans. – The Capital Post.
