WASHINGTON 11 March 2026 (The Capital Post)- The United States Senate has approved the official use of several artificial intelligence chatbots, including ChatGPT, to assist staff with certain work-related tasks, according to a report by The New York Times.

The move allows Senate offices to use selected AI tools under specific guidelines designed to ensure security and responsible usage. Officials said the chatbots can help staff with research, drafting documents, summarising information and other administrative tasks.

The approval follows months of internal evaluation aimed at balancing the productivity benefits of generative AI with concerns related to data privacy and cybersecurity.
