JOHOR BAHRU, 21 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — Village Grocer has officially opened its latest outlet at SKS City Mall JBCC, marking the brand’s expansion into Johor Bahru city centre.
The new store, located on the Lower Ground Floor of the newly launched lifestyle mall, aims to bring Village Grocer’s premium grocery shopping experience closer to residents, commuters and visitors in the bustling Johor Bahru district. Strategically situated beneath the five-star Sheraton Johor Bahru and just minutes from the Singapore CIQ checkpoint, the outlet is expected to cater to both local shoppers and cross-border visitors.
Village Grocer said the new outlet offers a curated range of premium local and imported products, including fresh fruits and vegetables sourced from countries such as Australia, Japan, Korea and New Zealand, alongside produce from Cameron Highlands.
Customers can also expect premium meats, fresh seafood, international grocery selections, organic and health-focused products, as well as ready-to-eat meals and artisanal baked goods tailored for urban lifestyles.
According to The Food Purveyor Chief Executive Officer Kok Kian Kee, the expansion into SKS City Mall reflects the company’s strategy to bring premium grocery offerings closer to the growing Johor Bahru community.
He said integrating Village Grocer into the lifestyle-focused mall would help ensure the brand remains accessible and convenient for multi-generational shoppers in the area.

SKS City Mall JBCC has been positioned as a modern lifestyle and community destination featuring retail, dining, wellness, entertainment and family-oriented experiences. The mall also includes selected Singapore brands to appeal to cross-border visitors while hosting year-round festive celebrations, exhibitions, live performances and community-driven activities.
To celebrate the opening, Village Grocer is offering a month-long series of promotions and rewards from 21 May until 21 June 2026 for shoppers and BITES loyalty members.
Among the promotions are exclusive opening-day deals, complimentary gift bags for early customers, claw machine prizes, and free membership rewards for new BITES members.
As part of its sustainability initiatives, the outlet will also operate as a plastic-free-at-checkout store, encouraging customers to use reusable shopping bags.
