Walk-in vaccination only for those who did not get appointments

PETALING JAYA: The walk-in initiative in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur from Aug 1 is for those who dropped out or have not received their appointments yet, the Covid-19 immunisation task force (CITF) has stressed.

It said this initiative was not for those who have already been given their appointments, even if the appointments were after Aug 1.

“Examples of those who have not received an appointment are people who do not have identification or travel documents, as described by vaccination minister Khairy Jamaluddin on July 16,” it said in a statement.

CITF said individuals in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor who had previously registered will be given an appointment soon, adding that those who have not yet registered should do so quickly.

It also said that vaccination centres (PPVs) which will operate for walk-in purposes will be updated and announced later as existing PPVs may not necessarily be open for this initiative.

“In the meantime, CITF would like to call on those who have received a vaccine appointment to attend on the date at the PPV that has been provided.

“This takes into account the presence of new variants that are more aggressive, high Covid-19 cases and the need to seek protection through vaccines as soon as possible,” it said.

Last week, Khairy said adults who are not recorded as residents of Selangor and KL, such as those who do not have documents and so on, will be allowed to walk into vaccination centres (PPVs) for their jabs after Aug 1.

“After our surge capacity operations are finished, all PPVs (in Selangor and KL) will be open to walk-ins so (that) we can ‘mop up’ those who have not received their first dose,” he said.- FMT
