KUALA TERENGGANU, 17 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Works (KKR) and Public Works Department (JKR) Malaysia, through JKR Terengganu, officially handed over 14 education infrastructure projects completed ahead of schedule (AOT) to the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) today.
The handover ceremony was held at Dewan Mimar Sinan, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tok Jembal, and was officiated by Deputy Works Minister Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad bin Maslan, who handed over the projects to Education Minister Yang Berhormat Puan Fadhlina binti Sidek.
The ceremony was also attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education and the Deputy Director-General of Public Works, reflecting close cooperation between the ministries in advancing public infrastructure development.
The 14 projects involved a total contract value of RM34 million and were completed a cumulative 986 days, or 2.7 years, ahead of the original schedule.
The early completion enables schools to utilise the new facilities and conducive learning spaces sooner, supporting smoother teaching and learning activities for students in the state.
Overall, JKR Terengganu is currently overseeing 111 KPM projects worth RM302 million. The projects include the construction of covered open multipurpose halls under the 12th and 13th Malaysia Plans, initiatives addressing high-density schools and integrated maintenance of existing infrastructure.

The programme also includes additional classroom construction under the Quick Win Cakna MADANI Initiative, which uses Modular and Industrialised Building System (IBS) methods as part of preparations for Year One student enrolment for the 2027 school session.
Between January 2025 and August 2026, JKR Terengganu completed 37 projects worth RM85 million, recording a cumulative early completion of 2,697 days, with each project completed an average of 72 days ahead of schedule.
The ministry said the early completion of education infrastructure projects is strategically important in supporting the Government’s target of implementing a single-session schooling system by 2030.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Kerja Raya Malaysia, the achievement also demonstrates the efficiency of public governance and transparent management of allocations in line with the aspirations of the MADANI Government. – The Capital Post
