KUALA LUMPUR, 28 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – About 400 Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) personnel from various service levels and departments took part in Langkah Merdeka 2026 at Titiwangsa Lake as part of the ministry’s National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 celebrations.
Organised by the MINDEF Welfare and Recreation Club (KAKEP), the programme began at 3pm with participants taking part in a series of recreational activities in a relaxed yet spirited atmosphere.
The programme started with an aerobics session led by the Royal Malaysian Air Force Arts Corps as a warm-up activity before participants proceeded with the main event.
Participants were then divided into two groups before embarking on a brisk walk around Titiwangsa Lake.
The activity also featured the distribution of Jalur Gemilang flags to members of the public encountered along the route, symbolising MINDEF personnel’s efforts to promote patriotism and love for the country among the community.

Langkah Merdeka 2026 not only provided MINDEF personnel with an opportunity to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, but also strengthened camaraderie and team spirit among ministry employees.
The programme, marked by participants walking together while waving the Jalur Gemilang, reflected MINDEF’s commitment to fostering the spirit of Merdeka and instilling pride and love for Malaysia.
