SEPANG 3 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Royal Malaysian Customs Department thwarted an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of heroin at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2), seizing about 33 kilograms of the illicit drug hidden in parcels arriving from overseas.
Customs director‑general Datuk Seri Ramli Hassan said officers became suspicious during the inspection of parcels sent to local recipients and discovered the drugs concealed inside packages marked as electronics accessories. The seized substance was confirmed to be heroin, with an estimated market value running into the millions of ringgit.
Ramli explained that the successful interception was the result of heightened surveillance efforts and advanced scanning technology aimed at detecting contraband substances before they could move into domestic circulation. He added that the investigation is ongoing to trace the source of the shipment and identify individuals involved in the smuggling attempt.

The Customs Department reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Malaysia’s borders against narcotics trafficking and urged members of the public to report suspicious parcels or activities that could be linked to drug distribution.-The Capital Post
