KUALA LUMPUR 6 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – AirAsia X has reiterated that it will not implement job cuts or offer voluntary unpaid leave to employees despite mounting cost pressures in the aviation industry linked to the West Asia conflict.

At a media briefing held at the airline’s RedQ headquarters, Group Chief Executive Officer Bo Lingam emphasised the company’s commitment to safeguarding its workforce and maintaining business continuity, stating that “there are no staff cuts and no voluntary unpaid leave at this point.”

The clarification comes in the wake of reports that fellow carrier Batik Air Malaysia had proposed voluntary unpaid leave to staff and announced a reduction in scheduled flights as part of cost-management measures.

Bo said AirAsia X will continue to closely monitor the operating environment and adjust its strategies as necessary, but insisted that protecting jobs remains a priority even as the airline navigates industry headwinds. -The Capital Post
