BANGI, 12 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Integrity, discipline and the courage to make difficult decisions are among the essential qualities needed to develop credible and effective leaders, Deputy Inspector-General of Police DIG Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said during a leadership forum at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

Speaking as a guest panellist at the Bicara Kesatria programme titled “Inspirasi Kepimpinan Dari Loreng ke Sang Saka Biru”, Ayob Khan shared insights from his academic and professional journey, highlighting the values that shaped his leadership philosophy throughout more than three decades of service in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

According to a Facebook post by Polis Diraja Malaysia, the deputy police chief reflected on his experiences as a student and cadet officer at UKM, describing the period as instrumental in building his character, discipline and leadership foundation before joining the police force.

He also recounted his experiences in handling high-risk operations and navigating situations that required critical decisions under intense pressure, stressing that every decision must be guided by facts, sound principles and the public interest without compromising integrity.

Addressing the role of youth in nation-building, Ayob Khan said young people possess immense potential to become future leaders but must be equipped to face challenges in the digital era, including misinformation, cybercrime and extremist influences.
