Education Ministry, SEARCCT Strengthen Cooperation to Prevent Extremism

PUTRAJAYA, 6 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation in preventing extremism and terrorism through greater awareness initiatives in schools.

Education Ministry Secretary-General Wan Hashim Wan Rahim received a courtesy visit from SEARCCT Director-General Nur Ashikin Mohd Taib at the ministry’s headquarters in Putrajaya.

The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration in countering extremism and terrorism, including plans to organise engagement sessions with educators to raise early awareness among school communities.

The initiative is expected to strengthen preventive efforts through education by equipping teachers with greater awareness of issues related to extremism and violence.
