PUTRAJAYA, 12 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Education (KPM) has officially transferred the management of Technical Secondary Schools (SMT) to the Fully Residential and Excellence Schools Management Division (BPSBP), marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s technical education ecosystem.
The handover ceremony was witnessed by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, senior management officials of the ministry and principals from nine Technical Secondary Schools during the ministry’s monthly assembly.
According to a Facebook post by Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia, the transition is expected to serve as a catalyst for enhancing the excellence and competitiveness of the institutions under the leadership of BPSBP.
The ministry also expressed its appreciation to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Division (BPLTV) for its commitment and contributions in managing Technical Secondary Schools over the years.
As part of the restructuring, all Technical Secondary Schools will now be known as Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Teknikal (SBP-T), reflecting their new administrative alignment and strategic direction.

The move forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and develop a more robust pipeline of skilled talent to meet the nation’s future workforce needs.
KPM said the restructuring is aligned with its commitment to elevating technical education standards and ensuring students benefit from a high-quality learning environment that supports both academic and technical excellence.
