RELA marks 54 years of service to the nation

SUNGAI UDANG, 13 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The 54th anniversary celebration of the Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (RELA) recognised the dedication and sacrifices of its members, who have served as a pillar of community security and a strategic partner to the government in safeguarding national peace and public order for more than five decades.

The celebration was officiated by Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, accompanied by RELA Director-General Datuk KPjR Rosli Yaakub. During the event, the deputy minister expressed his appreciation to RELA members for their unwavering commitment, volunteerism and patriotism in carrying out their responsibilities to the nation.

Also present were Deputy Secretary-General (Security) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) Dato’ Hj Abdul Halim Hj Abdul Rahman, Deputy Secretary-General (Management) Puan Ainah Mohd Soon, as well as senior officials from the ministry, its agencies and RELA.

In line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, the Ministry of Home Affairs said it will continue to strengthen the role and welfare of RELA personnel to ensure they remain relevant in addressing contemporary security challenges, including disaster management, community safety and cross-border threats.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Dalam Negeri (KDN), the anniversary celebration reflects the ministry’s continued commitment to recognising the invaluable contributions of RELA members in serving the nation and the community. – The Capital Post.
