SEPANG, 20 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The crew members of MV Berkat Tuah have safely returned to Malaysia after months of uncertainty, marking the successful conclusion of a humanitarian mission coordinated by the government.
The seafarers had been stranded since September 2025 before finally arriving home on Monday.
The Malaysian Marine Department (JLM), as the country’s Flag State Administration, coordinated efforts with the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia’s diplomatic mission in the United Arab Emirates, seafarers’ unions, local authorities and international strategic partners to facilitate their safe return.
The operation also included a special mission led by the Director-General of Marine to the United Arab Emirates to assess the crew’s welfare, evaluate the vessel’s condition and hold direct discussions with relevant stakeholders.

JLM said it will continue assisting the crew in pursuing any outstanding rights and claims through the appropriate legal channels.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Jabatan Laut Malaysia, the successful mission reflects the Malaysian Government’s commitment, with the support of the Prime Minister’s Office, to safeguarding the welfare, safety and rights of Malaysians wherever they are.- The Capital Post.
