PUTRAJAYA, 20 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) commemorated World Moon Day during its July 2026 monthly assembly, highlighting the importance of scientific progress and innovation in driving Malaysia’s future development.
The assembly was officiated by MOSTI Secretary-General Datuk Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu and attended by Deputy Secretary-General (Planning and Science Culture) Datuk Ruziah Shafei and Deputy Secretary-General (Technology Development) Norsham Abdul Latip.
The theme was chosen to mark the anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing on 20 July 1969, the historic mission that saw humans set foot on the Moon for the first time. In his address, Nagulendran said today’s technological advancements were built on the dedication of previous generations, researchers and various stakeholders who contributed to the development of science, technology and innovation (STI).
The event also recognised two MOSTI officers who were admitted as members of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and honoured four completed RKB projects.

The assembly concluded with the presentation of appreciation certificates to retiring officers, announcements of staff promotions and transfers, as well as a birthday celebration for 58 MOSTI personnel born in July.
