ALOR SETAR, 1 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Temasya Orang Kedah (TOK) 2026 officially commenced with a grand opening ceremony officiated by the Raja Muda of Kedah, His Royal Highness Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin.
Held on July 31, 2026, the event carried the theme “Warisan Disemarak, Kedah Dimartabat”, highlighting efforts to preserve and promote Kedah’s cultural heritage while strengthening cultural tourism in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) and the Malaysia MADANI aspiration.
The opening ceremony featured spectacular performances involving 980 performers and 205 cultural artists, followed by special performances by Haziq Rosebi and Ronnie.

The celebration reflects ongoing efforts to empower arts and culture as a catalyst for unity, community engagement and tourism development, while showcasing Kedah’s rich heritage to the public.
Also present at the ceremony were Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Haji Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor; Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MOTAC) Secretary-General Dato’ Shaharuddin Abu Sohot; MOTAC Deputy Secretary-General Dato’ Mohd Yusri Mohd Yusoof; and National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) Director-General Mohd Amran Mohd Haris.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya Malaysia, TOK 2026 serves as a platform to celebrate Kedah’s cultural identity while strengthening the role of heritage in Malaysia’s tourism landscape. – The Capital Post
