Communications Ministry Strengthens AI Leadership

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – Communications Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah today attended the AI Senior Public Sector Programme organised by the Ministry of Higher Education in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

The programme was officiated by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and brought together ministry secretaries-general and heads of federal departments to strengthen leadership capabilities and deepen understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing public service delivery.

The initiative aims to equip senior public sector leaders with the knowledge and leadership skills required to leverage AI in delivering more efficient, innovative and effective government services.

The Communications Ministry said its participation reflects its continued commitment to strengthening leadership capabilities while supporting the public sector’s digital transformation agenda to improve service delivery for the people.

The ministry also expressed its appreciation to the organisers for hosting what it described as a high-impact programme that supports the development of AI leadership within the public sector.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Komunikasi, the programme forms part of ongoing efforts to prepare Malaysia’s public sector leadership to harness emerging technologies in driving innovation and improving governance. – The Capital Post.
