PUTRAJAYA, 7 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – Preparations for the Ambang Merdeka 2026 Assembly have begun with an emphasis on whole-of-government collaboration to ensure a meaningful lead-up to this year’s National Day celebrations.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar chaired the kick-off meeting for the organisation of the Ambang Merdeka 2026 Assembly, highlighting the importance of early coordination and close cooperation between the public and private sectors.
He said the Ambang Merdeka Assembly and gathering is more than an annual event, describing it as a symbol of unity, patriotism and collaboration between the public and private sectors in advancing the national agenda.
The meeting focused on ensuring thorough planning and effective coordination so that preparations can be translated into smooth and impactful implementation.

Shamsul Azri expressed confidence that, through the Whole-of-Government approach and the commitment of all stakeholders, the Ambang Merdeka Assembly would serve as a meaningful opening event ahead of the National Day 2026 celebrations.
