HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam, 17 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – A delegation from the Ministry of National Unity (KPN), led by YBhg. Datuk Mohamad Azhan bin Md Amir, Deputy Secretary-General (Management), attended the closing ceremony of the 33rd Green Summer Volunteer Campaign 2026 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) on 15 August.
In his closing address, YBhg. Datuk Mohamad Azhan congratulated the volunteers for their dedication and commitment throughout the 26-day mission, which saw participants step outside their comfort zones, cross borders, adapt to new communities and serve local communities together.
He highlighted the importance of people-to-people diplomacy in strengthening Malaysia-Vietnam relations, particularly through interactions between students, communities and young people from both countries who worked together, shared experiences and developed mutual understanding.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Minh Son, Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the Inspection Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, said international volunteer activities in Ho Chi Minh City not only benefited local communities but also fostered friendship, understanding and closer ties among young people from different countries.
The mission brought together 48 Malaysian students, more than 150 members of the Youth Union, young people and students from Vietnam, 15 Indonesian volunteers, as well as volunteers from Laos and Cambodia.

Participants took part in various activities across the city, promoting the spirit of sharing, responsibility and international solidarity.
The programme also featured sharing sessions involving Vietnamese and Malaysian volunteers as well as youth representatives from Shanghai, China, providing further opportunities for experience exchange, learning and cooperation among international youth.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Perpaduan Negara, the programme served as a platform to strengthen people-to-people ties and foster greater understanding and cooperation among young people from participating countries. – The Capital Post
