PUTRAJAYA, 17 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) is strengthening its innovation culture as a driver of public service reform through the KDN Innovation Day Competition 2026, held today at Dewan SP10, KDN.

The competition serves as a platform to showcase creative solutions, digitalisation and technology-driven initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and the quality of public service delivery.

“Kita mahu AI diterjemahkan dalam bentuk sistem pintar yang mempercepat proses keselamatan, memperkukuh kawalan sempadan dan meningkatkan kepantasan perkhidmatan kepada rakyat,” said YBrs. Encik Ahmad Nizam bin Norali, Secretary of the Management Services Division, KDN.

A total of 17 groups participated in this year’s competition, involving the Corporate Communications Unit (UKOM) and teams from KDN departments and agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), National Registration Department (JPN), Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM), Registrar of Societies Malaysia (JPPM), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) and Malaysian Prisons Department.

KDN’s innovation agenda is also being strengthened through technology-driven innovation leadership development. A total of 28 officers representing 25 KDN divisions and 11 departments and agencies participated in the AI For Leaders training programme to prepare for the development of a smart work ecosystem based on artificial intelligence, automation and digital technology.

Under the “AI FOR KDN, KDN FOR AI” approach, innovations developed are expected to deliver tangible outcomes, value for money, process digitalisation, project sustainability and responsible use of AI.

KDN is also encouraging frugal innovation approaches that optimise existing resources to deliver high-impact, quality and integrity-driven services. The ministry stressed that silo-based working should be replaced with cross-divisional, departmental and agency synergy, while innovation projects should continue to be utilised, improved and deliver long-term benefits to the organisation and the public.

Also present were YBrs. Puan Norazlin binti Alias, Secretary of the Human Resources Division; YBrs. Puan Norkhanizan binti Manaf, Secretary of the Corporate Communications Unit; representatives from KDN divisions, departments and agencies; and competition participants.

The KDN Innovation Competition 2026 judging panel comprised Encik Ali bin Isa, Chief Panel Judge from the Ministry of Works (KKR); Encik Rosdi bin Osman from the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (FELDA); and Encik Muhammad Shawwal bin Mohamad Raqi from the Department of Manpower (JTM).

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Dalam Negeri (KDN), innovation is not merely about creating something new, but about improving the way services are delivered to make them faster, more efficient and effective. – The Capital Post
