KOTA BHARU, 9 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The ECRL Kota Bharu Station has achieved a record 96% score in the Ministry of Transport’s (MOT) accessibility audit, the highest recorded since the initiative began in 2018.
MOT conducted the Public Transport Service Accessibility Audit in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, from 7 to 8 September, covering the ECRL Kota Bharu Station and Sultan Ismail Petra Airport.
The audit was led by the Public Works Department (JKR) as the technical auditor.
The initiative forms part of MOT’s efforts to ensure transport hubs under its supervision comply with universal design principles and provide greater accessibility, safety and comfort for all members of society, particularly persons with disabilities (PwD).
MOT said the ECRL Kota Bharu Station achieved 96% compliance, marking the highest score recorded throughout the ministry’s accessibility audit programme since 2018.

Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, meanwhile, achieved 80% compliance following minor rectifications.
The ministry said the initiative reflects its continued commitment to developing a public transport system that is more inclusive, user-friendly and accessible to all.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, the accessibility audits are part of ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and safety across transport facilities under the ministry. – The Capital Post
