PUTRAJAYA, 23 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia is strengthening its international Muslim-friendly tourism network following the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) involving the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) and partners from the tourism, halal certification and financial sectors.
The agreements were signed during GHaS Night: Celebrating Visit Muslim-Friendly Malaysia Dinner 2026, organised by ITC in conjunction with the Global Halal Summit (GHaS) 2026 at Le Méridien Putrajaya on 22 September.
The three MoUs involved ITC and the Korea Muslim Federation (KMF), FAMBRAS Halal Certificação Ltda and Maybank Islamic Berhad.
The collaborations are aimed at strengthening the Muslim-friendly tourism and hospitality ecosystem while expanding the implementation of MFAR at the international level.
Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Secretary-General Dato’ Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot attended the event alongside Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Senator Dr. Zulkifli bin Hassan.

In his special address, Shaharuddin highlighted the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign as an opportunity to introduce Malaysia’s Muslim-friendly tourism experiences to a broader international audience.
Also present were MOTAC Deputy Secretary-General (Tourism) Chua Choon Hwa and ITC Director-General Mohammad Faisal Shuaib Abu Shuaib Khan.
