KUALA LUMPUR, 22 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan has assured the Dewan Negara that the government is closely monitoring the progress of the Pan Borneo Highway Sabah Phase 1A project while continuing to strengthen road safety measures at highway upgrade sites.
Responding to two oral questions in the Senate, Ahmad said the Ministry of Works (KKR) is overseeing the implementation of the Pan Borneo Highway Sabah Phase 1A project to ensure it is completed according to schedule and meets the required specifications.
Replying to Question No. 6 raised by Senator Datuk Bobbey Suan, he said the strategic project is a key government initiative to improve Sabah’s road network, enhance connectivity between districts, stimulate economic activity and improve the wellbeing of the people. KKR and the implementing agencies will continue to intensify site monitoring, proactively resolve implementation issues and ensure each work package remains on track.

Addressing Question No. 10 from Senator Datuk Dr Haji Mustafa Musa, Ahmad said the ministry places strong emphasis on road user safety, particularly in areas undergoing widening and upgrading works, including the Kuala Lumpur–Karak Expressway and the North–South Expressway (PLUS).
