SEPANG, July 21, 2026 (The Capital Post) – The inaugural AirBorneo flight on the Kuching–Kuala Lumpur route was officially launched at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Malaysia’s domestic air connectivity.
Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, attended the launch ceremony, which was officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Openg.
The inaugural service reflects the Sarawak Government’s continued commitment to expanding air connectivity, while supporting the growth of tourism, trade and economic activities at both the domestic and regional levels.
The new route is also expected to strengthen connectivity between Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia, while supporting Malaysia’s aspiration to become a world-class tourism destination under the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, as well as Federal and Sarawak Cabinet ministers.
