Anwar calls for stronger nation-building through civic values

PUTRAJAYA, 7 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has underscored the importance of nurturing citizens with strong character, integrity and moral values as part of the nation’s ongoing efforts to strengthen nation-building and uphold Malaysia’s dignity.

Chairing the National Governance Council meeting, Anwar stressed the need to instil civic and national values to ensure patriotism continues to flourish among Malaysians.

He also received a briefing on the progress of the National Service Training Programme (PLKN), noting its encouraging implementation and positive response from participants and parents. Anwar said the programme should continue to be strengthened as a platform to cultivate discipline, resilience and national identity among the younger generation.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the role of the National Fellows initiative, which brings together distinguished figures and statesmen from diverse backgrounds to contribute ideas and recommendations aimed at advancing the nation’s development agenda.
