SEREMBAN: A 24-year-old despatch rider pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexually grooming his 13-year-old niece.

He claimed trial to the charge before Sessions Court judge Junaidah Mohd Isa.
The suspect allegedly committed the offence by showing a nude picture to his niece at his house in Felda Jelai Satu in Gemas at 4.30pm on Nov 26 last year.
He was charged under Section 12 (1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
Offenders can be jailed up to three years upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurhafiza Haron asked the court not to allow bail.

The suspect then told the court that his father, a settler, was present in court to bail him.
Judge Junaudah then set bail at RM6,500 with one surety.
She also told the suspect to stay away from the victim and to report to the Gemas police station on the 15th of every month.
She then fixed March 12 for remention to allow the suspect to appoint a lawyer. -The Star
