If you happen to be in Hong Kong anytime soon, you may just come across events celebrating one of the world’s favourite cats, Hello Kitty.

Sanrio’s Hello Kitty turns 50 this year and it is celebrating in style all over the world, beginning with Hong Kong. The brand has partnered with Harbour City to organise a string of curated events and exhibitions, which will run until Feb 25.
Hello Kitty has also officially taken on the role of International Friendship Ambassador for Harbour City. To commemorate this, the mall has created a special logo that incorporates Harbour City, Hello Kitty and “50”, to be used in all official events.
The “Hello Kitty Happy 50 @ Harbour City” celebration will include a special parade, a thematic art installation and a lion dance garden, as well as a photo opportunities with a 5m-high Hello Kitty daruma (Japanese doll).
The art exhibition features exclusive collaborations with artists, limited edition sculptures and other artworks, and jewellery too.
Hello Kitty designer Yuko Yamaguchi will make an appearance too on Feb 2 and 3, to sign autographs and chat with fans.
