KUALA LUMPUR 2 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – IJM Corporation Bhd looks set to capitalise further on Malaysia’s fast‑growing demand for hyperscale data centre infrastructure after securing a new RM658 million contract for core and shell works on a major facility at Elmina Business Park in Selangor.

The deal was awarded by Sime Darby Property’s subsidiary following a competitive tender process that saw IJM outperform several rivals on commercial, capacity and technical grounds, according to exchange filings and market reports. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with completion targeted by the third quarter of 2027.

Market analysts welcomed the latest contract, noting that it reinforces IJM’s positioning in the hyperscale segment and adds to its robust order book, which analysts say now heavily features data centre related jobs. The Elmina project follows an earlier award for similar works at the same site, signalling continued confidence among developers in IJM’s execution capabilities.

RHB Investment Bank has said the new project could deliver an attractive profit margin and does not rule out additional package wins for mechanical and electrical works for the same facility, which could be worth several hundred million ringgit if secured.

Shares of IJM responded positively to the announcement, trading higher as investors reacted to the strengthened prospects in digital infrastructure, a sector that is rapidly expanding across the Asia‑Pacific region amid rising demand for cloud services and artificial intelligence‑ready capacity.

With domestic data‑centre contracts now making up a significant portion of its construction backlog, analysts maintain that IJM is well positioned to benefit from the continued rollout of large‑scale digital infrastructure projects in Malaysia and beyond.-The Capital Post
