PUTRAJAYA, 18 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA) is strengthening efforts to expand accessible and inclusive employment opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs), including greater access to training, technology and career development.
Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and International) YBrs. Dr. Hj. Mohd Shaharin bin Umar said accessibility goes beyond physical facilities and should also cover information, services, training, technology and employment opportunities that can be accessed safely, independently and with dignity.
As of 31 December 2025, a total of 9,331 persons with disabilities were serving in Malaysia’s public service, representing 0.62 per cent of the overall public service workforce.
KESUMA said participation should be further strengthened, including through career advancement opportunities and greater involvement of persons with disabilities in decision-making processes.
The ministry is also expanding the inclusive employment ecosystem through Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) initiatives such as the Return to Work programme, job matching through MYFutureJobs, dedicated interviews and career fairs for persons with disabilities, as well as job coaching services.
