PUTRAJAYA, 5 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the protection of gig workers through closer collaboration with the Gig Workers Tribunal.
Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and International) Dr. Mohd Shaharin Umar held a meeting with the tribunal’s leadership to enhance coordination in implementing the tribunal’s functions in safeguarding the rights and welfare of gig workers.
The meeting was attended by Gig Workers Tribunal President Faizah Salleh and Deputy President Suzarika Sahak.
Discussions focused on strengthening the tribunal’s dispute resolution mechanism to ensure it remains efficient, fair and effective, in line with the government’s efforts to develop a more structured, transparent and responsive gig economy ecosystem.

KESUMA said the ministry will continue to enhance its strategic cooperation with the Gig Workers Tribunal to ensure policies and legislation relating to the gig sector are implemented effectively for the benefit of both workers and the industry.
