KESUMA Strengthens Foreign Worker Management, Prioritises Local Workforce

PUTRAJAYA, 18 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – Human Resources Minister YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan attended the Cabinet Committee on Foreign Workers Meeting No. 2/2026, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister I Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, here yesterday.

The meeting focused on ensuring the employment of foreign workers is managed in an orderly, transparent and integrity-driven manner, while reinforcing the priority given to Malaysian workers.

At the same time, dependence on foreign workers needs to be managed strategically based on the actual requirements of specific sectors and industries, in line with the MADANI Government’s efforts to streamline the foreign worker employment ecosystem for greater efficiency and accountability.

The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) remains committed to ensuring foreign worker management takes into account labour market requirements, compliance with labour laws and workers’ welfare.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Sumber Manusia, the Government continues to strengthen the management of foreign workers while ensuring Malaysian workers remain a priority in the country’s labour market. – The Capital Post
