PUTRAJAYA, 9 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad attended the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) Monthly Assembly for June 2026 at the MOH Headquarters in Putrajaya, where he highlighted the ministry’s recent achievements and ongoing efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s healthcare system.
Earlier, Dzulkefly joined MOH personnel in virtually attending the Prime Minister’s engagement session with staff of the Ministry of Communications to listen to the address delivered by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
In his speech, the Health Minister expressed appreciation to healthcare workers who serve far from their hometowns, particularly those stationed in Sabah, Sarawak and remote areas across the country. He also shared insights from his participation in the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA79) in Geneva, Switzerland, marking his third time leading the Malaysian delegation to the global health gathering.
Dzulkefly said MOH continues to receive recognition for its achievements at the international level and noted that ministry leadership has conducted visits to healthcare facilities nationwide since January as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery and strengthen the national health system.
On clinical services, he announced that the Cabinet had approved the establishment of the National Transplant Council, a move aimed at enhancing transplant-related healthcare services in the country. He also stressed the importance of efficient procurement and supply chain management in addressing global challenges, including shortages of medicines and medical devices caused by geopolitical tensions and disruptions to international logistics networks.
The assembly also featured two certificate presentation ceremonies officiated by the Health Minister. The first recognised Malaysia’s receipt of the United Nations Interagency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (UNIATF) Award 2025, while the second involved the presentation of the MS ISO/IEC 17065 Accreditation Certificate for the Organic Food Certification Scheme.

The UNIATF Award 2025 is an international recognition presented to countries demonstrating outstanding leadership and commitment in preventing and controlling non-communicable diseases (NCDs), particularly obesity. Malaysia was selected following a nomination by the World Health Organization (WHO), which acknowledged the country’s comprehensive initiatives, including strategic policy reforms, the Suku-Suku Separuh healthy eating campaign, nutrition regulations in school canteens, nutrition labelling measures, the sugar-sweetened beverage tax and strengthened primary healthcare services for obesity management.
Meanwhile, the MS ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation, awarded by the Department of Standards Malaysia and valid from 18 March 2026 to 18 March 2031, recognises the Food Safety and Quality Programme (FSQP) as a competent certification body for organic food products. The accreditation affirms that the programme’s certification systems and processes meet international standards and uphold the principles of transparency, reliability and efficiency.
MOH said the accreditation is expected to enhance access for Malaysian organic food products to regional markets while boosting the competitiveness of the country’s exports.
