BANGI, 10 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) is strengthening workforce planning in the plantation sector as part of efforts to boost productivity while reducing dependence on foreign workers.
KPK Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Yusran Shah Mohd Yusof officiated a briefing on the direction of foreign worker employment and management at the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) headquarters in Bangi on Thursday.
The session provided a platform to coordinate understanding of policies governing the employment and management of foreign workers in the plantation sector.
Discussions covered current developments, workforce requirements and compliance matters affecting the industry.
The programme brought together relevant ministries, agencies and industry players, particularly from the palm oil sector, to exchange views on workforce challenges and identify potential improvements.

KPK said it remains committed to ensuring the plantation sector’s workforce requirements are managed in a planned and balanced manner, taking into account industry needs.
The approach is also aligned with the country’s aspiration to increase productivity while progressively reducing dependence on foreign labour.
